Buddy Walk 2004

On Saturday, September 25, 2004, over 700 people filled Foster Park and raised over $67,000 in cash and in kind donations to support DSANI and individuals with Down Syndrome. In addition to the walkers, the 2004 Buddy Walk hosted special guests including Mayor Graham Richard, the Fort Wayne Komets’ Icey and several Komets’ players, and Mike Foster and officers with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.

Credit for the success of the 2004 Buddy Walk belongs to a group of hard-working individuals, led by Co-Chairpersons Brenda Amburgey and Julie Tutwiler, who spent several months meeting as a group to plan and organize the event. On the day of the walk, a great group of volunteers showed up early and stayed late to do the hard work necessary to make the event a success. A new addition to the volunteer ranks this year was a group of self-advocates led by Stephen Mikulski and Carl Nuffer. We owe so much to all of you – thank you committee, volunteers, and walkers!
